Visit the  Children’s Park or the National Environmental Centre (NEC), or travel to Taylor Beach and Chalk Sound, there’s always something to do with kids on the island.

Leave the kids behing, bring the golf clubs instead
You don’t need children to enjoy a Caribbean luxury vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. There are many “adult” things to do here, for example… golf! One of the Top 10 golf courses in the Caribbean is right here in Providenciales..at the Provo Golf Club! If you decide to bring children, remember: kids play free.

Relax on world-famous Grace Bay Beach
For the second year in a row, an online community of millions of travelers has made Providenciales the number one beach destination in the Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice Top 25 Beach Destinations. The majestic powdery white sandy beaches, such as our own Grace Bay, that surround the island were one of the top reasons for Provo’s first-place ranking in 2012.

Turks & Caicos restaurants: Hemingway’s

Facing scenic Grace Bay Beach with a great view of fantastic flaming Caribbean sunsets, Hemingway’s beachfront restaurant at the Sands offers elegant open air dining with a menu devoted to regional specialties you can’t anywhere else.

turks and caicos restaurants hemingway's

While Hemingway’s is located at luxury resort The Sands at Grace Bay, resort guests and beach-walkers alike come here to enjoy the beautiful view from Hemingway’s wood deck and tuck into breakfasts including cinnamon raison French toast or huevos rancheros with fresh black bean salsa on a seasoned tortillas.

There’s also everything in between from fresh fruit to traditional Eggs Benedict – and that’s just for breakfast.

Hemingway’s does a great lunch too. There’s the usual and much loved fare of tasty sandwiches, and meal-sized salads, plus local specialties including soft fish tacos, mango shrimp salad and Caribbean jerk chicken & chips.

If you have a sweet tooth you’ll love our key lime pie with a graham cracker crust to fried ice-cream with cinnamon powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. That’s right – fried ice cream, a dessert made of a breaded scoop of ice cream that is quickly deep-fried creating a warm, crispy shell around the still-cold ice cream.

The Chicagoans invented it, and the Caribbeans perfected it.

We like to serve fresh grouper for dinner, lightly spiced and pan seared and served with a tequila sauced veggie salsa with charred onions, black beans, corn, carrots and red and green peppers.

We’re also proud of our sauteed shrimp with pesto cream over penne pasta. For the gourmet palate, try the filet mignon grilled with a fragrant red wine mushroom sauce.

We also feature a Catch of the Day, using fish caught in local waters.

Grace Bay Beach is also known for JoJo the Ambassador Dolphin (recognized as such by the government of TCI), and there is a little brass bell on the beach for your kids to ring to summon him.

There may be a bit of a wait – JoJo is getting older now and spends most of his time out in the Caicos Bank – but it makes for great conversation, especially with kids, while anticipating dinner.

Things To Do In The Caribbean Turks Caicos Information

Visit the caves of Middle Caicos

Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos (TCI) is on a bit of a roll these days – it’s been introduced as one of the world’s top 10 beaches, and the island of Providenciales has been celebrated one of the world’s top honeymoon retreats.

With all this interest, you would think TCI would be a bustling place, but not a long way away to the east of Provo and Grace Bay can be found the most quiet island of Middle Caicos, home to the lowest number of inhabitants in the islands (only 300 full-timers).

If you have the time and cash to charter a boat or fly on an airplane, it’s practical explore some pretty remote landscape on Middle Caicos. The chief allure of the cay are some of the most amazing caves and caverns in the Caribbean.

Generated by the erosion of limestone, the Conch Bar Caves are the greatest above-ground caves in the Turks and Caicos, as well as the nearby Bahamas.

Closeby are the Village Caves, which seem to have been used by by humans since prehistoric times. Limestone outcroppings similar to furniture add to the illusion of human habitation, and water fed by massive underground lakes must have made these subterranean areas an fantastic place to dwell.

The caves themselves were revealed in the last century by guano excavators, and probably had not been seen by human eyes in some time.

It’s thought the grottoes were originally utilized by the Lucayans, the former inhabitants of the Bahamas archipelago (which includes TCI) who were made use of by the Spanish as slaves and died out by around 1520.

Various Lucayan cultural items have been uncovered in the caves, such as intricate “duho” wooden stools, and other remnants that have been unearthed in the caves suggest that Middle Caicos has been a hub of indigenous custom for millennia.

It seems more than likely that the caves on the cay were in use commonly for worship by indigenous folk, and quite possibly as refuge during windstorms. With the arrival ofwhite colonization, native people of Middle Caicos escaped from the shoreline, discovering refuge in the caves, and started to to live in them perpetually.

It makes for an excellent daytrip from Provo!
