The Provo Art Crawl is Back in Spring 2016

provo art crawl 2016

The Art Crawl returns to Providenciales in Turks and Caicos this winter and in early spring.

The Provo Art Crawl is a fun and casual night of wining and dining at local cafes and restaurants. It’s a great way to try out as many restaurants in Turks and Caicos as possible… including, of course The Sands at Grace Bay’s own beachfront Hemingway’s Restaurant & Bar.

The Art Crawl occurs on the third Wednesday of the month: Here’s the Art Crawl schedule for 2016:

  • Wednesday, January 20th
  • Wednesday, February 17th
  • Wednesday, March 16th
  • Wednesday, April 20th

Providenciales Art Crawl Details

The real attraction of course is browsing the wide variety of local art galleries that dot the Grace Bay area. Resort guests and Islanders alike can join in the crawl wherever they would like for some art, food and drinks.

A trail has been provided for ease but, true to our Caribbean island lifestyle, there are no set times or route that must be followed.

Each location will stamp your map and once you have all the stamps, you will be entered in the PAC raffle for one of three unique prizes.

Here are some images from the January 2016 art crawl:

The Provo art scene is unique and growing:

Here’s the most recent map from 2015. We’re expecting the organizers to post a new map in February, 2016.

Turks and Caicos National Heritage Month Full of Events

turks and caicos events

October marks the kickoff of the fall and winter travel season. It’s also National Heritage Month in the Turks and Caicos, and so there are a number of interesting events planned to welcome our guest back to the islands.

Salt Festival

If you are able to persuade yourself to leave the powdery white sand of Grace Bay Beach, a journey to Grand Turk and Salt Cay this weekend will pay off in the Salt Festival.

Salt was once a valuable commodity, with almost as much value as a currency. The flat salt pans of the surrounding cays made the Turks and Caicos the perfect place to produce this valuable resource.

The Salt Festival these days is more of a chance for everyone to get together for a weekend of dancing and celebrating. Ask our concierge for information about how to get to Grand Turk and Salt Cay.

Seafood Festival

Located on South Caicos, the Seafood Festival Kicks off in mid-month. Like lobster? Find it here. Also, this is a great chance to eat crab cakes and the fabulous local delicacy, the conch.

Sponge Festival

Later in the month it’s Middle Caicos’ turn to host a heritage festival. A short boat-ride away from the northeast tip of Providenciales (our island), Middle Caicos is like taking a trip back in time, with plenty of caves and hidden beaches. The Sponge Festival is a perfect way to make connections with local residents.

Maritime Festival

On the last weekend of the month it’s Provo’s time to shine. Held at the Bight (about 15 minutes by car from the Sands at Grace Bay), this is yet another fun festival filled with food, frolicking, and music and dancing.
